I’m Not There (Tribute to Heath Ledger)

It’s the last Heath Ledger’s movie I saw in the theater.

A very unique movie. I’m glad I got a chance to see it during the Golden House Festival.

When everyone’s talking about Cate Blanchett’s brilliant performance, my eyes were on Heath Ledger. His part interested me the most – about Bob’s early marriage life and first wife – it’s usually the most important part of a biography.

Right before I went to see this move, I learned that he and Michelle Williams just separated. I always feel deeply sad when I heard couples breaking up because I believe in marriages and relationships and I want to believe them could last forever.

While watching the movie, I couldn’t help myself but wondering is Robbie Clark’s life similar to his real life? There’re six main characters in the movie, and Heath was only one let me feel he’s playing himself in the movie.

(I didn’t know Michelle Williams also was in the movie until I saw the movie.)

I’m not his fan. But I think I can say I’ve thought him as actor who kept challenging different kind of roles and knew how to choose a script. Not a typical Hollywood actor.

I was shocked when I woke up and saw his name was next to the breaking news on CNN.

I was horrified at that night when I saw him was in the body bag carried out of the apartment.

It’s sad that he died at such early age.

It’s sad that the cause of his death was accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

It’s sad because he was truly talented.

It’s sad because he seemed so humble in front of the media, and sometimes he seemed so straightforward.

Rest in Peace

Best wishes to his family

Most importantly, I wish all the good things to Matilda Rose and I wish Ms. Williams will have all the strengths she needs.

Tomorrow is the Academy Award Ceremony, and Cate has a fat chance to win the best supporting actress for I’m Not There. People will remember him. And remember him well.

I’m looking forward to see The Dark Knight in the upcoming summer.
